  • An Osage Beach man is being held in the Camden County Jail with no bond for domestic violence charges involving threatening his wife with a knife.
Shortly before 10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, Osage Beach officers responded to a residence on Parkwood Circle in reference to a possible domestic disturbance. Neighbors directed officers to the appropriate residence where officers could hear a woman screaming from within the residence. Officers knocked on the door and a male, later identified as Joseph D. Swaney, came to the door holding a knife. Officers ordered him to drop the knife at which time he slammed the door.
Upon further examination of the residence, officers were able to see into the residence and witnessed Joseph Swaney holding a woman, later identified as his wife, against a wall, holding the knife in a threatening manner. When Swaney took his wife to the ground, officers made forcible entry into the residence. After a brief struggle, Swaney was taken into custody. Swaney’s wife sustained a laceration and contusions to her head and face as the result of being beaten by her husband prior to officers' arrival. She was transported to Lake Regional Hospital for treatment of her injuries and released.
