Edith Catherine Hanson died Sunday December 9, 2012. She was born December 19, 1921. Edith was 90 years old and a resident of Golden Age Living Center in Stover, Missouri. Edith was the widow of Fred B. Hanson, who preceded her in death in 2011. They were long time and active lake area residents in the Laurie community.
Edith was born in Westfield, Iowa; the daughter of Elmer and Agnes Bergum. Following high school Edith attended business and secretarial school. She had a long career as an executive secretary, and worked for Graybar Electric Company, Beach Aircraft, and Jack Henry Clothier.
Edith was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Laurie, the Osage Community Elks Lodge 2705, the Ladies VFW Auxiliary, and Newcomers Club. She enjoyed years of boating and golf with her husband and the many, many friends they shared in common.
Edith’s friends and family will remember her remarkable gifts of fun and laugher, and she will be greatly missed. Her survivors include a cousin, Sandra Borchers and her family, and two step-sons, Steven J. Hanson (Colorado) and Gary M. Hanson (Omaha) and their families.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday December 12, 2012, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Laurie. Graveside services and interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. with a rosary prayed at 9:30 a.m. Memorials are suggested to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. or Old St. Patrick’s Cemetery Fund in Laurie.
