The City of Camdenton aldermen approved the purchase of a 2-acre tract of land from the Lions Club. The property borders Camdenton City Park.
In the Lions Club's contract, a clause stated that if they were to ever get rid of or sell the property, they must approach the city first. They did and the city was very interested.
Two acres will be purchased for a total of $33,000. $17,000 will be paid up front at the closing at the beginning of 2013. The rest will be paid over the next eight years.
According to city adminstrator, Brenda Coulter, there are no immediate plans for the property. "It could be used for a number of things," she said. One idea that she mentioned for the future is additional parking for the city park.
The building is located near the entrance to the Camdenton Park.
Clean up on the property will begin once the city officially takes over ownership.
