  • Citizens Against Domestic Violence (CADV) is making a difference in the lives of families in the region through the center's new shelter and CADV Room Sponsors program. In an effort to serve women and children affected by domestic and sexual violence abuse, the expected completion of the building in the beginning of February 2013 prompts a new need.
"We are desperate to get the rooms and furniture adopted out," Angie Fiene, director of Citizens Against Domestic Violence, said. "We have the rooms available for adoption at $3,000 dollars each, and that will completely furnish and decorate the room. Still looking for donors on the donor wall. All of that money will go to furnishing the new building."
According to "CADV’s Sponsor-A-Room in Our New Shelter" flier, the Sponsor-A-Room Program helps assure families have a safe and warm place to stay while taking the necessary steps to becoming survivors.
Fifty percent Missouri State Tax Credits are available for sponsoring rooms.
Individuals unable to sponsor rooms are able to donate purchased items through the shelter's Walmart Wish List registered under CADV Shelter. Available options for individuals include buying online, shipping to store, or buying and dropping off donations at the shelter.
People who sponsor rooms will provide the following needed items:
With an expected completion in the beginning of February 2013, The new 5,400 square foot shelter will be able to house up to 40 women and children at a time.
