Last week, Eddie Emery confirmed he would run for Camden County Associated Commissioner for district two.
What thoughts went into the decision making of you deciding to file as a write in candidate?
Several thoughts went into my decision. While I understand that winning an election as a write-in Candidate is difficult at best, I also feel our citizens and community are worthy of these efforts. I have strong support from my family, close friends and the core support from my previous sheriff's race. Their support has made my decision a lot easier.
Your press release mentions "concerned citizens" who asked you to file. Who are those citizens?
I had considered running for a commissioner's seat some years ago, but didn't act on those thoughts at that time. After the August Primary I spoke with several people who supported other commissioner candidates in the primary and felt the current candidate was not the right choice for the office. I chose to run at this time to represent the many people who are not supporting the other candidate. I have spoken with several citizens since filing, and am willing to ask them to contact you. However, I will not release their names without their consent.
What is your plan for your campaign? When can residents expect to see signs up around Camden County?
I plan in the near future to visit with as many citizens of the 2nd district as possible. I'm working on signs, and they will be out soon. I am also planning to order other campaign materials as funds become available.
What are your thoughts going into the Nov. 6 election? What do you think sets you apart and makes you a viable candidate?
I plan to stay positive and run a fair and friendly race. Our fellow citizens want a change because they don't feel their concerns are being effectively represented. I feel my experience working with the Camden County Road and Bridge, combined with my serving our citizens in the public safety sector, makes me the best candidate for the job.
Do you have support or backing from any current County officials, the Republican club or committee?
While a lot of people know I am seeking office, I have not been contacted by any of the elected officials, the Republican committee or club at this time.
How do you plan to fund your campaign?
There are some fundraisers being planned, and I will spend what I can spare out of pocket. Of course, contributions will always be gladly accepted.
Who is your campaign manager and treasurer?
Page 2 of 2 - I managed my last campaign and haven't given that position much thought. However, if there is an experienced person out there willing to step up, I would be willing to discuss it. Tonia Starr of Camdenton has accepted the position as my treasurer.
What is your plan if elected? What is your vision for Camden County?
I plan to represent the citizens of the 2nd district. I will listen to their concerns and apply my experience, training and common sense toward finding sensible solutions to their concerns and issues. I plan to continue to make Camden County a great place to work , live and raise a family.
