Desre and Stacey Dory were arrested and charged with second degree murder and forgery for the death of William Van Note. He was found critically wounded at his home in Sunrise beach on Oct. 2, 2010. The Dory's are accused of helping William Van Note's daughter, Susan Elzabeth Van Note, forge a power of attorney document that eventually lead to him being taken off life support while undergoing treatment at a Boone County hospital. The Dorys were referred to as friends of Susan Van Note.
William B. Van Note, 67 and Sharon L. Dickson, 59 died after suffering from gunshot wounds at their lake home in Sunrise Beach residence on Oct. 2, 2010. Dickson was pronounced dead at the scene. Van Note was transported to a Boone County hospital and underwent treatment for his injuries. Van Note was able to call 911 before he lost consciousness.
The 911 call led Camden County deputies to Van Note's home on the lake's westside shortly after 11 p.m. that night. The body of Sharon L. Dickson was found in the home's upstairs master suite. Van Note was found nearby. No one has been charged in Dickson's death.
The couple had been seen returning home around 5 p.m. earlier that evening. No one in the neighborhood reported hearing anything that evening prior to be awakened by sirens and dogs barking.
The charges against the Dory's and Susan Elizabeth Van Note were filed following an indictment handed down by a Boone County jury eralier this month.
Susan Elizabeth Van Note, 44, pled not guilty in an arraignment hearing last week in Boone County. Van Note was taken into custody on Sept. 7 on charges of forgery and first degree murder of her father William Van Note.
