Count the Hannibal Rural Fire Protection District as another entity that is lifting its burn ban. The announcement was made late Thursday by Chief Mike Dobson.
“Since we have received some moisture in the area with more rain forecast, the Hannibal Rural Fire Protection District will lift the burn ban that was imposed back in July,” said Dobson. “We want to encourage people to be safe with their outside burning by limiting the size of their fires, have them attended at all times and to have a water source close to the fire.”
Dobson asks anyone who intends to have a larger fire to call the non-emergency number of their local 9-1-1 in advance and advise them of the fire’s location and the anticipated hours of the burn.
“By notifying the dispatch agency, this will help to eliminate the fire department being dispatched to the location of a controlled fire,” said Dobson.
Marion County 9-1-1 can be called at 221-1244 and Ralls County 9-1-1 can be reached at 985-1911.
