  • The public is invited to the Lighthouse Mission Festival 4 to 10 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 15 at the mission in Camdenton.
“We are excited about this year’s event where we will get to share with the community what God is doing,” said Bob Willis, Freedom Through Christ Lighthouse Mission Program Coordinator. “This festival is an opportunity for us to celebrate the ministries purchase of the property, and allow us to share our vision of an additional house to be used to house gentlemen. The most exciting news is we plan to build a community center where we will be able offer a more wide variety of services and resources.”
Michele O’Dell and friends from Spirit FM will emcee the event and there will be music by praise and worship bands. The mission’s famous smoked meats with all the fixins’ will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. for dinner.
There will also be ice cream or an old fashioned root beer float for dessert. For entertainment, eleven or more shepherds will take a seat for a soaking in a dunk tank. “To top it all off we will have a bouncy house and fun games with cool prizes for adults and kids alike, along with more super surprises,” said Willis.
“The Lighthouse Mission helps men overcome drug and alcohol addiction while providing them a Christian home environment and ministering to the whole person by providing physical, emotional and spiritual resources,” said Program Director Jeff Hall. “The men learn that making God real in every situation is not a series of religious activities, but a natural outflow of a living relationship with their creator.”
In addition, the program seeks to help men find balance in their lives by creating a safe home environment, providing practical resources, and limiting negative distractions that keep them from living a productive and balanced life. The Mission also helps men understand that taking full responsibility for past choices will help in making better future decisions.
