Macks Creek ceases to exist as a municipality. Camden county commissioners voted to pass the resolution officially disincorporating the city of Macks Creek on Thursday, August 16.
The resolution made its way to the commission following the Aug. 7 election when over 69% of voters elected to dissolve the city.
The resolution appointed Charles McElyea as Macks Creeks' trustee.
McElyea is expected to visit the village on Tuesday to determine what the assets and liabilities are and to dispose of any assets.
He hopes there is enough assets generated to pay off debts.
Camden County Presiding Commissioner Kris Franken said that the process will begin once all of the initial discovery of the state of the city's affairs has been determined and the best progression towards finalization of the dissolution has been determined.
The land that once was the city of Macks Creek is now unincorporated much like county land in Montreal, Hugo and Decaturville. The roads will now be maintained by the county.
