Retired to the lake in 1992

Vera June Matson Burger was born January 21, 1920 in Bureau County, Illinois and died on July 31, 2012 in Osage Beach, Missouri.  She was the daughter of the late Carl Matson and the late Clara Morford Matson of Kasbeer, Illinois.  She was married to Louis Raymond Burger, Jr by the Reverend Leslie Matson of the Christian Church in Princeton, Illinois on November 20, 1941.  Louis was born August 9, 1920 in Grand Island, Nebraska and preceded her in death on October 30, 2002.

They lived in Kansas City, Missouri for 30 years after traveling and working in the upper Midwest.  They retired in 1982 and moved to Roach, Missouri on the Lake of the Ozarks.

Vera graduated from Princeton High School in 1939.  She was a devoted homemaker who worked as a bookkeeper at the Kasbeer Grain Elevator during World War II.  She was a member of the Princeton Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.  She made her profession of faith in Christ in her early years, and later belonged to the Disciples of Christ Christian Church in Kansas City, Missouri.

She is survived by a son Roger and his wife Leann of Onekama, Michigan, a grandson Rance of Ozark, Missouri, her sister Yvonne Johnson and her husband Joe of Princeton, plus may cherished nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Gladys, and two brothers, Delbert and Ivan.

The service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 3, 2012 at the Norberg Memorial Home in Princeton, Illinois with the Reverend Jon Olinger officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.  Burial will follow at the Limerick Cemetery.  Memorials may be directed to the American Asthma and Lung Association or the American Lung Association of Western Missouri.
