Lake of the Ozarks resident John Wright was injured on the fourth of July while helping with the annual firework show at the church he attends. The firework injured his right eye. He was airlifted to Columbia where he endured a four and a half hour surgery.
Wright still has no use out of his right eye and has a chance of losing sight out of that eye altogether. He has yet to be able to return to work. Doctors are still unsure of when he will be ready.
The community is gathering around him and hosting several fundraising events to pay for medical and living expenses.
