The Lake of the Ozarks recorded its third electrocution in less than a week over the weekend.
A 26-year-old Jennifer L. Lankford, of Hazelwood, Mo. died Saturday night in a dock electrocution incident near Dry Branch Cove the 4-mile marker.
The woman and two children apparently were swimming near a dock and felt a current of electricity in the water. The two children swam away from the dock. The woman swam toward the dock and died.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
Alexandra Anderson, 13, and her brother Brayden Anderson, 8, both of Ashland, died on July 4 from electrocution while swimming near a private dock at the 6.5 mile marker of the Gravois Arm.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, "A preliminary investigation indicated an improperly grounded electrical circuit to the dock, which was not ground-fault protected, was a contributing factor in the (children’s) deaths.”
