It's official. Camden County First District Commissioner Bev Thomas will not be the lone candidate for the seat she currently holds in November.
Thomas will face opposition from Tom Pedrola, an Independent party candidate in the November election.
Pedrola announced his intention to run after the filing period earlier this year. In order to be listed on the ballot, he was required to submit a petition to the Camden County clerk's office with signatures from at least 180 registered voters. The clerk's office confirmed the petition had been verified and accepted.
Pedrola joins John Page as the second Independent Party candidate to step forward to run in November. Page is running for Camden County Sheriff against incumbent Dwight Franklin.
Pedrola is a newcomer to Camden County politics. He is currently emplyoed by the Osage Beach Public Works Department.
The first district Includes Horseshoe Bend, Lake Ozark and Osage Beach.
Thomas is a Republican.
