Pier 31 Restaurant & Marina will host the 12th annual free Troop (Hero) Appreciation Day for troops, spouses and their children. Held June 16, it will include a 3-hour cruise, swimming, fishing, contests, presents, prizes and hero awards. Pier 31 will also furnish some free rooms and has arranged special rates for others at Tan-Tar-A Resort.
Boats leave from Pier 31 at 1:30 p.m. and return for the festivities. A fishing contest will be held for children 14 years old and younger. A free dinner will be held at 6:30 p.m. and the awards honoring heros. The first 200 troops including their spouses and children (as long as they are serving or have served in the last year) are welcome. If the hero is not able to come, their spouse and children are welcome as long as they have proper identification. The general public is invited for $14 per person.
