Captain Matt Walz of Missouri Highway Patrol was happy to report that the holiday weekend on the water was "a pretty safe weekend overall. Nothing out of the ordinary."

As of Monday afternoon, there were six boating accidents. Four of them caused injuries to the victims. None of the injuries were considered life threatening. "For the number of boats on the water, I would say it was a very safe weekend," Walz said.

An explosion at the 66 mile marker in Camden County resulted in two injuries. Ronald Dodson, of Lees Summit, Mo. sustained serious injuries and Blake Samskey of Olathe, Kan. sustained moderate injuries. Both were taken to Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach for treatment.

A Lees Summit, Mo. girl was flown to Kansas City Childrens' Hospital Saturday afternoon. Jessica Dennis was riding an inner tube when a large boat wake caused the tube to go airborne. Dennis sustained serious injuries in the accident.

At approximately noon on Monday, Walz could report 26 boating while intoxicated citings.

A handful of road accidents caused minor to moderate injuries around the lake area.
