Woman 2 Woman has issued a Community Challenge to the tri-county area in partnership with Medical Transportation Management (MTM) and the Community Foundation of the Lake.

The Community Foundation awarded Woman 2 Woman $2,000 and Lynn and Peg Griswold of MTM have promised to match dollar-for-dollar that amount with the pledge of matching any additional donated funds from the community up to $10,000.

The “Woman on the Move” program, a van transportation service provided by Woman 2 Woman in 2010 and 2011, was discontinued in 2012 due to a lack of funding. Kim Spangler, founder and CEO of Woman 2 Woman, reports that clients from the following agencies were transported in addition to W2W clients: CADV, Lake Area Helping Hands, Haven of Hope Maternity Home and Crisis Pregnancy Center.

Clients were taken to school, work, job skills classes, interviews and clinical appointments. Each year of operation saw more than 100 new riders due to a lack of transportation in the tri-county area.

The Woman 2 Woman Board of Directors has approved an annual budget for this service, which will include funding of $12,000 plus a donated 6-passenger van. The one-year operation, to include gas projected at $5/gallon, all insurance and Workman’s Compensation, a part-time driver and a part-time administrator (and payroll taxes) totals $21,856. All donations are tax deductible.

The challenge is issued with a deadline of November 2012. To donate or for more information, contact Woman 2 Woman at 302-7700.
