The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission has awarded a contract for the replacement of the historic Saline Creek Bridge on Route 17 in Miller County.  The bridge is located about three miles north of the Route 17 and Route 52 intersection.

Don Schneiders Excavating Company of Jefferson City was awarded the contract after submitting the lowest bid of $1,142,531.41.  The contractor can complete the work anytime between early May and mid-September.

“With the replacement of the bridge, we will be making travel safer for those who cross the structure,” said Missouri Department of Transportation Project Manager Bruce Green. “The new bridge will be six feet wider and more sound.  This new bridge will be a great benefit to motorists and the local community.”

During construction of the new bridge, Route 17 will be closed for approximately two months.  Motorists are advised to find an alternate route around the construction.
