A 2-day-old infant lost his mother, father and 3-year-old brother in a matter of minutes after the vehicle they were in was struck head-on by a 19-year-old Eldon resident.


A 2-day-old infant lost his mother, father and 3-year-old brother in a matter of minutes after the vehicle they were in was struck head-on by a 19-year-old Eldon resident.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol report on the crash, Emily M. Frakes was driving a 2002 Toyota eastbound when she crossed the center lane of traffic hitting the 2008 Pontiac the Eldon family was in.
The Pontiac was being driven by Marty R. Wilcox, 36. He was pronounced dead at the scene along with his wife 27-year-old Elisa M. Wilcox. The couple's 3-year-old son was transported by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital where he was also pronounced dead.
Gabriel J. Wilcox, the couple's 2-day-old son, sustained moderate injuries in the crash. He was taken by ambulance to Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach for treatment.
Frakes, the driver of the 2002 Toyota, was flown by helicopter to Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Mo., for treatment of serious injuries.
The crash occurred around 1:40 p.m. Thursday on Route 52 near Brown Road in Miller County. A crash reconstruction team from Kansas City was called in to investigate the crash further.
This is Troop F's 8, 9 and 10th fatality this year, and 5, 6 and 7th for February. The fatalities put Troop F's statistics up to more than a 300 percent increase over 2011. In 2011, there were only three fatalities reported during the first two months of the year.
