No doubt when viewing the lake, many may have wondered why so many homes were built right to the edge of the water.

Many land owners own under the lake and carry the original description for their land subject to the flood easement.  If the land owners above the 660’ wanted to gamble on flooding they could plants crops or do as they wish, unlike those lakes built with federal funds.  Reasons were that Union Electric was only interested in water for generation of electricity.
