The 34th Annual Palm Sunday Art Show is inviting local artists, both professional and amateur, to exhibit their original works in the April 1 event at the Royal Theatre Dimond Annex in Versailles.


The 34th Annual Palm Sunday Art Show is inviting local artists, both professional and amateur, to exhibit their original works in the April 1 event at the Royal Theatre Dimond Annex in Versailles.
In addition to being original, works must also not have been exhibited in this show previously. Entries should be recent work completed from 2009-2012.
Two-dimensional pieces must be framed and wired for hanging.  No saw-tooth hangers permitted.  Size should not exceed 48” x 48".  In choosing subject matter, remember that ours is a family-oriented show.  Three-dimensional works should be described on the entry sheet.
Participants are limited to exhibiting four pieces with an entry fee of $15 for each artist.
There are two divisions - professional and amateur - in the judged show. Professional includes artists who have taken college classes in art and/or are selling their artwork.  Amateur includes artists who are self-taught and/or do not sell their artwork.
Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third places and honorable mention in each division. First place will include a ribbon and $75; second place a ribbon and $50; and third place a ribbon and $25. Several honorable mentions will be awarded in both divisions, winning a ribbon and $10.
The overall Best of Show will receive a ribbon and $100.

Located on the west side of the downtown square in Versailles at 111 S. Monroe St., the Dimond Annex will be open from 4-6 p.m. Saturday, March 31 for artists to drop off their works. The Royal Art Council will also receive works from 8-9:30 a.m. Sunday, April 1.
Judge will take place from 9:30 a.m.-noon April 1 with the show opening at noon. At 2 p.m. will be the introduction of judges followed by critiques. The presentation of awards will be held at 3:30 p.m. and art work may be removed starting at 4.
