Lake Ozark Police responded to a business /residence fire at 1411 Bagnell Dam Blvd at approximately 11:35 p.m. Thursday.

The business is better known as "Were Talkin' T-Shirts" and is owned by Mike and Sharon Ahlhelm who were out of town when the fire occurred.

Upon arrival, officers located a white female adult who was yelling for help from a second story window. The building was full of smoke and fire. Officers were successful in getting the woman to climb through the window and on to a first floor rooftop. Officers were able to help the woman/victim off the roof to safety.

Lake Ozark Police Officers Cpl. Jeff Skinner and Officer Justin Romito along with Dispatcher Mindy Price did an excellent job of helping this victim escape the fire scene without serious injury, according to Fire Chief Mark Amsinger. Both officers had mild complaints of difficulty breathing after the fire, but only required a little oxygen at the scene. Amsinger also credited the dispatcher who gave verbal instructions to the victim prior to the officers’ arrival and the officers on the scene as instrumental in saving the victims life.

The Lake Ozark Fire Department did an outstanding job fighting the fire with help from numerous other area departments. High winds during the course of the fire made the fire more problematic. The state fire marshal was called in by the Lake Ozark Fire Department to help determine the cause of the fire that is still under investigation.
The women / victim was identified as Lori Jett daughter of the owners of the business. She was transported by EMS to the hospital. She was treated and released.
