U.S. Army, Korean Conflict veteran who loved sports; member of VFW Post 5178

Harry E. Young Jr., 79, of Sunrise Beach, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2011, at his home.  He was born Dec. 6, 1931, in Kansas City, Kan., the son of the late Harry E. and Vera Evans Young.
He was a United States Army veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict as a CIC Intelligence Analyst.
Harry retired from General Electric as the Head Credit Manager.
He was a past member of the Gravois Mills VFW Post 5178, and was an avid sports fan.
Harry is survived by his son, Edward Jess Young of Greenview, Mo.; his daughters, Brenda Jones of Gravois Mills, Mo., and Ronda Romine and husband Mike of Osage City, Kansas; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and his brother, Robert Young of Carthage, Mo.; and many other relatives and friends.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Audra J. Young.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 20, in the Garber Memorial Estates Cemetery in Laurie. Expressions of sympathy may be left online at www.kidwellgarber.com.  Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel.
