  • Four people were killed in a car accident Sunday morning on Highway 42 in Miller County. All four dead were passengers in a Toyota Camry that crashed into another vehicle near the Hawken Cemetery Road intersection in Brumley.

  • Four people were killed in a car accident Sunday morning on Highway 42 in Miller County. All four dead were passengers in a Toyota Camry that crashed into another vehicle near the Hawken Cemetery Road intersection in Brumley.
    According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 1997 Camry with five occupants from Rolla was traveling westbound at 10:43 a.m. The car crossed the centerline and then overcorrected. The car slid sideways across the roadway. A 2000 Chevrolet Silverado hit the Camry in the passenger side. Both vehicles came to a stop off of the highway.
    Sri H. Chittury, 22, Dheeraj Gudlawar, 23, Srikanth Ravi, 21, and Srupun Velumula, 24, were all passengers in the Camry and were pronounced dead at the accident scene. The driver, 22-year-old Murali Bottu sustained serious injuries and was flown by helicopter to University Hospital in Columbia.
    A passenger in the pickup truck, Robert E. Davis, 32, of Cedar Hill, suffered moderate injuries and was taken by Miller County Ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach. Driver Darren Denter, 38, of Glencove was not hurt.
    Three of the four passengers who died in the accident were not wearing seatbelts.
