The lake area will feature a celebration of knitting, crochet, quilting, felting, spinning, weaving, handmade paper art and beadwork with the 6th annual Lake Area Fiber Arts Festival, sponsored by Lake Area Fiber Arts Guild, held on Saturday, April 23, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. in Thompson Hall at Harper Chapel United Methodist church. The general public is invited, and admission is free.

“The mission of our guild is to promote awareness and understanding of fiber arts to our members and the general public,” guild President Julie Lentz said. “This festival is our way of encouraging the public to appreciate the beauty of fiber arts and how these are practiced by individuals living right here in the lake area.”

Bonnie Black, president of Missouri Fiber Arts and a member of this year’s festival committee, said this year will feature a wide array of fiber-oriented exhibitors with paid booth reservations.

“Vendors will include several yarn and quilt shops, alpaca farms, hand-painted yarn, wood art and handmade items, such as shawls, scarves, baby blankets, hats, jewelry and fiber art,” she said. “We encourage anyone to enter their handmade items in our judging contest or in the fashion show scheduled for 2 p.m.”

Entry forms for the fashion show and judging contest, as well as other details, can be found on the fiberfest website at sites.google.com/site/lakeareafiberartsfestival.
