The School of the Osage boys' tennis team rode the play of its top four players to a rare victory over Camdenton on Tuesday.

Osage got singles and doubles victories from Will Gross, Thomas Uhl, Jake Hader and Adam Keith. The foursome kept Osage undefeated and moved the Indians' record to 7-0 this season.

"Our guys played really tough and I'm very proud of them," Osage coach Scott Blacksher said. "Camdenton is always strong and we've hardly ever beaten them, but this is obviously the strongest team I've had in my 15 years here."

Gross, a senior, was all smiles when discussing the win over Camdenton, which suffered its first team loss of the season.

"It feels really great," Gross said. "Both teams came in undefeated and I was a little nervous for the guys and myself. This was a good win for us."

Lakers senior Alex Fowler got within 7-6 against Thomas Uhl after trailing 7-4, but the Osage freshman won the next three games.

"They're a solid team, very solid," Lakers coach Ted Houx said of Osage. "I was a little surprised our top four got swept, I was thinking we could maybe sneak in one win, but Osage was on top of their game today."

The last singles match of the day was a clash of styles that saw Camdenton's Connor Burton use his power game to finally beat scrappy Osage freshman Ryan Curran, 10-7.

Osage will play at the Waynesville Tournament on April 27. Camdenton hosts Kickapoo on Thursday.
