Member of First Baptist Church in Laurie, 30-plus year lake resident
Glenna Sue Wellemeyer, 88, of Laurie, passed away Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, at the Laurie Care Center. She was born Sept. 11, 1922, in Polk, Mo., the daughter of Glenn and Elma Grace Pitts. At a later date, Elma Grace married Andrew J. Wellemeyer, who adopted Sue and her sister, Donna Jo.
Sue retired from the medical profession at St. Luke’s Hospital Radiology Department in Kansas City, Mo.
She moved to the Lake of the Ozarks in 1977, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Laurie.
Sue lived, she loved, she was loved, and she now is in the arms of Jesus with friends, family, and loved ones who have gone before her.
She is survived by several cousins and her chosen family, Marvin and Becky Braden of Hot Springs Village, Ark., and Frank and Janice and Matthew Bartkowski of Kansas City, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elma Grace and Andrew Wellemeyer, her sister, Donna Jo, and her companion of 50 years, Nadine “Dean” Braden.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Feb. 25, at the First Baptist Church in Laurie. Expressions of sympathy may be left online at www.kidwellgarber.com. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel.
