Unity at the Lake Church and S.T.A.F.F. (Society for the Treatment of Abandoned and Fractured Friends) animal rescue center are hosting a special "Blessing of Animals" this Saturday.


Unity at the Lake Church and S.T.A.F.F. (Society for the Treatment of Abandoned and Fractured Friends) animal rescue center are hosting a special "Blessing of Animals" in honor of World Animal Day Saturday, Oct. 2 at the church from 1-2:30 p.m.
Reverend Michael Osterhout and Reverend Marge Dale will be blessing domestic animals on the deck of Unity at the Lake Church during the first segment. Anyone with a pet who would like to participate is welcome to attend the ceremony. All pets must be on a leash or restraint.
Then from 2:30-3:30 p.m., Unity ministers will be at the S.T.A.F.F. shelter to bless the the rescued animals.
"World Animal Day is a special day for anyone who loves animals," Reverend Dale said. "The Mission of World Animal Day is to allow people to celebrate animal life in all its forms; to celebrate humankind's relationship with the animal kingdom; to acknowledge the diverse roles that animals play in our lives; to acknowledge and be thankful for the many ways in which animals enrich our lives."
The public is invited to attend. The church is located 16445 N. State Highway 5 in Sunrise Beach across from Hurricane Deck Elementary School. The S.T.A.F.F. shelter is about 3/4 mile north of the church on Route 5.
