Ruby H. Bowen, of Dunnellon, Fla., passed away peaceably at the Legacy Hospice House, Ocala, Fla., on Aug. 12, 2010. Cremation. Graveside services will be held Sept. 11, 2010, at 1 p.m. at the Belton Cemetary, Belton, Mo. She was born on Oct. 29, 1918, in Wolbach, Neb., to Jasper and Emma Christeson. She spent her early adult and married years in the Kansas City area and later in Osage Beach and was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary for more than 50 years.
She will be remembered for her gentle nature and kindness to others, both family and friends, her ability to grow beautiful flowers and her famous chocolate pies. She was the ultimate caregiver with a helping hand offered to anyone in need. She leaves behind a large extended family and many friends. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Curtis Bowen Sr., grandsons Colin Mossman and Ted Bowen, and brother Leo Christenson. She is survived by son Curtis Bowen Jr. (Joan), of Dunnellon, Fla,. and daughter Marsha Bliven (Jack), of Dunnellon, Fla. She is also survived by five grandchildren, 20 great- grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the charity of your choice or the Salvation Army, Lake of the Ozarks.
