Chinese stock market watchers may soon turn to central Missouri to keep up with the latest developments on the Asian markets.

The University of Missouri's business school is teaming up with a private firm to form the Asian Equity Research Institute. The university and a private Columbia company called Rising Tide LLC own equal shares in the new venture.

The institute will tap more than 200 financial analysts in China to study the country's equity market performance along with government policies. Institutional investors, academic researchers and private companies will be able to enlist the research center's stable of experts, as well as translators.
