Gross, Hader, Henningson lead Indians tennis past Mexico 5-4. Osage lefty Luke Thompson throws 5 solid innings in 11-1 victory against Crocker.


The School of the Osage baseball team started the 2010 season on a winning note. The Indians hosted Crocker on Tuesday and came away with an 11-1 victory.

Osage starting pitcher Luke Thompson earned the victory while going 5 innings. He allowed 5 hits, gave up one run, hit a batter and struck out 5.

Thompson was also productive at the plate, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and 2 runs scored.

Senior catcher Josh Lutrell was 2-for-2 with an RBI and Zach Edwards hit a 2-run double and finished 1-for-2.

In junior varsity action, Osage won 4-0. Adam Hill was the winning pitcher after throwing 3 innings while giving up 1 hit, no runs, no walks and striking out 4.

Jack Ladouceur was 2-for-2 with 3 RBIs for Osage. The Indians play at California Thursday and at Skyline on Friday.

Tennis

The School of the Osage boys' tennis team is now 2-0 on the season – by the slimmest of margins. The Indians were at home against Mexico on Tuesday and pulled out a 5-4 team victory.

Osage's top singles, Will Gross and Jake Hader, easily won both of their matches 10-0. The Indians also got a singles win from Evan Henningson, who defeated Robert Seigfried 10-1.

In doubles, the teams of Hader and Henningson and Gross and Kay both won 10-4. Mexico won the third varsity doubles match but Osage had enough for the win.
