If it isn’t the historic town charm or the building’s storefront that captures one’s attention, perhaps it’s the store’s content that catches the eye.
Artists and art enthusiasts alike will find something to buy or see at The Art Center in Washington, Mo. Home to its own art gallery, featuring original pieces — paintings, ceramics, blown glass, wood and more — and special sales and events throughout the year.
The custom framing shop and art gallery is open Tuesdays through Saturdays for the winter. Patrons can stop by and have their memories framed — heirlooms, sports jerseys, etc. — or can order a print to have framed and hung on their walls at home or the office.
The gallery currently features work from more than 20 different artists, showcasing something for every decor need and personality type.
The gallery also invites visitors to come in and browse the selection, so as not to feel rushed. Additionally, they display the items as one would be accustomed to seeing them; a painting, for example, would be hung on the wall.
The first three weekends in February will feature a special sale or event, including a day of free refreshments on Feb. 13, perfect for anyone doing a little Valentine’s Day shopping.
However, visitors who drop by and don’t see anything on display that they like may also flip through one of the gallery’s print catalogs, which feature work that may be ordered in.
The Art Center is located in downtown Washington, Mo., and is open Tuesdays through Fridays, 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. and on Saturdays, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
