Police arrest 25-year-old male who claimed a “black male had come to the apartment and assaulted his girlfriend the previous evening”

A Camdenton man was arrested Friday morning for allegedly assaulting a female victim at a Camdenton apartment complex.

Camdenton police were dispatched to Brookview Apartments at approximately 11:40 a.m. after a “concerned citizen” complained that “a neighbor had been assaulted by her boyfriend,” according to a press release issued by the police department.

The caller also said the suspect, identified as Joshua S. Altamirano, 25, broke the victim’s cell phone in attempt to keep her from alerting police.

The press release stated that when officers responded to the apartment, the 25-year-old female subject appeared “nervous, had a black eye, scratches on her face and bruising on her neck consistent with choking.” Officers also noted that holes in an apartment wall were consistent with someone punching it.

Altamirano reportedly told police that a “black male had come to the apartment and assaulted his girlfriend the previous evening,” but was not able to give further description.

Officers observed that Altamirano had fresh scratch marks on his hand, according to the release, and took statements from neighbors who said the victim had named Altamirano as her assailant.

Altamirano was arrested and transported to the Camden County Jail, where he was charged with second degree Domestic Assault. A cash bond of $100,000 has been set.

No prior charges were listed on Casenet for Altamirano.
