Winter can wreak havoc on your skin. Between cold, dry air and a lack of sunshine, it can be hard to look refreshed. Thankfully, there are a number of things you can do at home to spruce yourself up and moisturize.
Here are a few must-have products and tips from Spa La Tierra owner Tierra Hagan Scofield. Spa La Tierra is located at the Inn at Grand Glaize. Tierra can be reached at 573-216-3627.

1. Use body lotion with built-in self tanner a couple times a week to add color to the skin. Spend less by using generic brands. They work just as well.

2. Moisturizing lipstick is a must-have in any make-up bag. Even if you don’t have a lot of time to get ready in the morning, adding some color to the lips goes a long way.

3. Immediately after getting out of the shower, use a cotton swab to unclog pores in the nose and chin area — both are problem spots for men and women.

4. Clean make up brushes once a week with shampoo to get rid of bacteria. It may seem tedious, but it will help keep skin clear.

5. Vaseline is a great alternative to using a paraffin machine. Within two minutes of getting out of the shower, put lotion on spots that need extra attention, especially hands and feet. Add a layer of Vaseline, which acts as a barrier and locks in the lotion. Wear gloves or socks overnight and wake up silky smooth.

6. Hagan charges just $15 for eyelash tinting, and lots of places offer the service. You won’t have to worry about raccoon eyes, and it lasts for three weeks. It’s an easy way to freshen your look and makes daily maintenance a breeze.
