  • The Lake Area Emergency Services Basketball Tournament will take place Dec. 5 with a 3 p.m. tip off time.
The tournament will be at the Camdenton Middle School where local heroes such as emergency personnel will gather along with local celebrity referees and announcers. The doors open at 2:15 p.m.
There will also be concessions, door prizes and a silent auction with proceeds benefiting Officer Floyd Sanders, who was recently diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer, in hopes it will offset the cost of treatment and time away from work.
Sanders has been on the Camdenton Police force for 4.5 years and previously worked as a deputy for the Laclede and Camden County Sheriff’s departments. He was also a paramedic and served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam.
Prices for the event will be $5 for adults 18 and up, $2 for kids 5 to 7 years and free for children younger than 5 years.
Door prizes will include tickets to Mizzou and Missouri State basketball games and silent auction items will include tickets for Noah the Musical, Silver Dollar City and two nights lodging at Tan Tar A.
To donate new items, gift cards or gift certificates for the silent auction, contact Melissa at (573) 346-3604 or Lori at (573) 346-3600.
Donations for the Sanders family can also be made at any Central Bank Lake of the Ozarks locations.
