Depending on the outcome of a rate case filed with the Missouri Public Service Commission, residents served by Lake Region Water & Sewer could see significant increases in their monthly service charges in 2010.


 Lake Region Water & Sewer Company has filed rate requests with the Missouri Public Service Commission seeking to increase annual water and sewer operating revenues by approximately $331,200. The case was filed with the commission on Oct.7.


According to the company’s filing, Lake Region Water & Sewer Company seeks to increase the average monthly water bill of its residential customers by approximately 28 percent. For single-family residential customers, the company seeks to increase the monthly sewer bill for customers in Shawnee Bend by approximately 70 percent and by approximately 51 percent for single-family residential sewer customers in Horseshoe Bend.


The Missouri Public Service Commission will hold formal evidentiary hearings in May in water and sewer rate cases filed by Lake Region Water & Sewer Company. Formal evidentiary hearings are scheduled to begin on May 17, 2010 and continue through May 21, 2010 and from May 24, 2010 through May 28, 2010.  These hearings will be held in Room 310 of the Governor Office Building (200 Madison Street) in Jefferson City.
