Newcomers/Longtimers Club supports five groups

Newcomers/Longtimers Club President Lynda Hartwick announced the charities and scholarships selected by the club to support for 2009-2010, the Club’s 45th year:  

Newcomers/Longtimers Scholarship Fund
Scholarships are awarded to qualified candidates pursuing an education at:
•Columbia College (Lake Ozark area) – Military Spouses and Veterans Program
•Columbia College (Lake Ozark area) – Registered Nursing Program
•Eldon Career Center – Licensed Nursing Program and Technical Program

Lake Regional Health System
N/L donation will help to offset the cost of a MRI Breast Coil for the new digital mammography machine. This machine is a supplemental tool used for detecting and staging breast cancer and breast abnormalities, in addition to the mammography or ultrasound imaging. Citizens Against Domestic Violence (CADV) established in 1985, is a non-profit organization that provides crisis intervention, advocacy, and support to victims of domestic violence. Through community education and prevention programs, they strive to eliminate the negative effects and incidents of domestic and sexual violence. Woman 2 Woman
Woman 2 Woman is a faith based, non-profit mentoring education and referring organization serving women in Camden, Morgan and Miller counties.  It was founded to provide a way for women to learn to realize their hopes, dreams and possibilities.  Working with several organizations we identify women who truly want to help create better lives for themselves and their families.  We assign mentors who help show women the way to success.  Our thanks to N/L for helping women shine.  For more information, please contact Kim Spangler 573-302-7700.

Marine Corps League-Lake of the Ozarks
The Marine Corps League and Auxiliary are 501(c) (3), not for profit organizations.  The Detachment and its Auxiliary participate in many activities including:  Military Honors at funerals; Color Guard; support currently deployed troops and their families; participate in the Department of Veterans Affairs Volunteer Service Program by providing volunteer assistance to veterans confined to Veterans Hospitals or nursing homes; provide local support to families of Marines and other service personnel serving in harms way, particularly at Christmas time. The President’s Premier Gala is scheduled for May 8, 2010 at Old Kinderhook and the Club’s annual fundraiser, the 16th Annual Home Tour will be at Old Kinderhook on Saturday, May 15, 2010.  The Home Tour has become one of the most popular fundraisers held in the Lake of the Ozarks area and has raised more than $175,000 for local charities, organizations and scholarships.
