The Pride of the Lake Marching Band took second in the Greater St. Louis Marching Festival Saturday, Oct. 24.

"It feels awesome," said Band Director Paul Baur. "We are just thrilled."

They also took home the caption award for Outstanding Music Performance.

The band competed against 11 other bands in its division.

"That contest is like our unofficial state championship," Baur said.

The Kickapoo Golden Arrow Marching Band from Springfield, Mo., took first. They beat the Lakers by .7 points.

Baur said he had nothing but high regards for Kickapoo's band.

"It doesn't hurt so bad to be beat by a classy band like that," he said.

Saturday's competition was held at the Edward Jones Dome in downtown St. Louis. It was the last competition for Camdenton this season. Baur said he couldn't think of a better wrap up.

"It was a great way to end the season," he said.
