The cause of a fire that forced the evacuation of two residents from a condominium complex is under investigation.

Flames and smoke were seen coming from a below-grade unit at the Malibu Shores Condominiums on Malibu Road in Osage Beach. According to information provided by the Osage Beach Fire Protection District, the fire was reported Sunday at 3 p.m.

Flames and smoke were seen coming from a below-grade unit at the Malibu Shores Condominiums on Malibu Road in Osage Beach. According to information provided by the Osage Beach Fire Protection District, the fire was reported Sunday at 3 p.m.
Police had to evacuate two people and pets inside the multi-story condominium unit. Off-duty personnel arrived and assisted with searching the remaining units.
Osage Beach Fire Protection District units were assisted by units from Lake Ozark Fire Protection District, Camdenton Fire Department, Osage Beach Ambulance and Osage Beach Police.
Although the fire was contained to the unit of origin, adjoining units suffered smoke damage.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Damage is listed at $50,000. There were no injuries.
Displaced residents declined the assistance of American Red Cross and chose to relocate with family members.
