The gloves are off, the primaries are over and we know who the candidates are for the general election on Nov. 4, 2008.

We all have a huge responsibility to educate ourselves on the issues and where the candidates stand on the issues.

It is time to get involved and encourage others to do the same. I have asked myself, am I better off now than I was four years ago, or even two?
The answer is a resounding no! Now it costs me one and a half times more to fill up at the gas pump, my utilities are twice as high, my grocery bill is more than twice as high, I have no health insurance, car and home insurance is rising and my disposable income to save is gone, just to name a few.
So what do we do about it?
First, we have to not only be registered to vote, but we have to actually vote! Find a candidate who shares your ideals and support them.
Get involved, be vocal and true change can happen.
As Justin Dart once said, “Vote as if your life depends on it. Because it does.”
Those words were never truer than they are today.
