Versailles travelled to Rolla, Mo. for its preseason Jamboree Friday evening. Also attending were Owensville, St. James, and the host team.
The Tigers took on St. James in its first matchup and scored three touchdowns on offense while only allowing one on defense.
Head coach Bob Ramsey said that the defense was particularly strong in the jamboree.
The Tigers also won their second matchup against Owensville. Versailles scored two touchdowns in its 12 offensive plays, while it shut out its opponent on defense.
Against Rolla in the third matchup, neither team found the end zone. Ramsey said the Jamboree helped prepare the team for the opening game against Boonsville.
“We wanted to see what our strengths and weaknesses were. We were able to evaluate some things and make corrections,” Ramsey said.
