An electrical short injured a Lake Regional Hospital employee and caused a small fire on Thursday morning.  The employee sustained serious third degree burns.

Maintenance employees were on the roof of the hospital conducting an inspection in an electrical room at 7:45 a.m. The electrical short happened when they removed the cover of a panel for inspection. The arc burned the employee's hand and arm.

The fire triggered the hospital fire alarm which sent firefighters from the Osage Beach Fire Protection District into action. Maintenance employees put the fire out before firefighters arrived at the scene. Nine firefighters checked the electrical room to make sure that the fire was extinguished.
